I feel like a liberated woman. I admit, I have major OCD tendencies and when the nerves are worn thin, I snap. The kids run for their lives, the cat retreats to the cornfield, and my husband gathers up his treasured belongings and runs. It’s Goodwill time! It happens at least three times a year. The clutter starts piling up in massive landfills around the house. It’s not until I lose it that I realize I am on edge and have been since the last decluttering moment.
So it’s done. I have officially cleaned out every closet in my house (except my dear hubby’s), dusted the whole house (ceiling included), gone through kids’ clothes, sanitized the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room, cleared out a spare bedroom and made it into a quiet room (otherwise known as a study for hubby and a scrapbooking area for me).
I thought for half a second of having a yard sale…nah…it feels way too good to breathe in the emptiness around me. If you, too, are thinking of losing it (the clutter, I mean), you might check out The Fly Lady (she is the ultimate in decluttering…and keeping the kitchen sink clean). This book transformed the way I look at cleaning my house and is so easy to incorporate into your homeschooling routine (what I mean is that I PLAN to incorporate this into my routine
. If you are not sure where to start, check out Sink Reflections. If you’re an old pro, tell me what you do to keep the junk out of your life?
